Back in November, JAGtechnic arranged The Black Tie Affair, to raise an astonishing £15,000 for St Wilfrid’s Hospice. Kevin Barnard, of Reid Brigg’s Insurance made the winning bid for the amazing prize of a track day at Goodwood with a rare opportunity to be driven around the historic racing circuit by a living legend, Norman Dewis OBE – Jaguar test driver, and developer of the iconic Jaguar E-Type!

Nothing compare’s to the feeling of nostalgia you get from arriving at Goodwood. Everywhere you look there are evocative sights. Then you hear the cars, smell the high octane fuel, sense the excitement and you are then faced with a wall of legends. Jim Clarke, Sterling Moss, Fangio, Graham Hill, you name them, their faces are on the walls surrounding you. Kevin was soon the join the exclusive club.

After a briefing and a meeting with Norman Dewis, Kevin was shown the amazing E-Type and an astonishing XK150. He would be blasted around Goodwood’s iconic race track, at full bore, in both.

Kevin and the team then retired to the Goodwood cafe for a chat and some lunch with Norman Dewis. An extraordinary privilege to chat with Norman about his time at Jaguar, his stories are unimaginable, delivered with entertaining glee. You are overcome with the sense of this humble mans legendary status.
