Ori Gersht – Towner – Private View
Ori Gersht’s exhibition “Don’t Look Back” is now open at Towner, Eastbourne. Here are some photographs from the private view, taken 6th February. An opportunity to meet Ori Gersht and discuss his incredibly moving exhibit of photographs. Members of Towner were in attendance, accompanied by The BBC, featuring on BBC South East News.

“UK-based Israeli artist Ori Gersht will be showing two major moving image works Evaders (2009, from the Towner Collection) and The Forest, (2005) alongside a series of large scale photographs.Evaders is a fascinating film work that uses long panoramic shots to trace the journey of writer and poet, Walter Benjamin through the Pyrnees in 1940 during World War II to escape the Nazi regime.”

The exhibit was formally opened by Kathleen Palmer, Head of Art at The Imperial War Museum. Her description of the exhibit was emotive and held the attention of the full to capacity room.
